Extension Student Receives Honorable Mention at Society of Professional Journalists Awards

Extension Feature Writing alum Christina Macone-Greene is back at it again! At last week’s Society of Professional Journalists, San Diego Pro Chapter awards banquet, Macone-Greene received the 2011: Honorable Mention for Education Story in the San Diego Union-Tribune for her story “Pet project gets kids reading“.

Congratulations Christina! We couldn’t be more proud of your continued success!

UC San Diego Extension’s Specialized Certificate in Feature Writing gives students a solid grounding in the craft of feature writing, with instruction in the fundamentals: generating and developing story ideas, cultivating sources, researching, interviewing techniques, and the writing itself. Students learn how to write for the online environment and the business of feature writing, from marketing stories as a freelancer to key legal issues so they can gain the market knowledge to get published.
